Diary of a Virgin Multi Level Marketing Professional – Week 1

The title of this post is a little contradictory I know but although I am brand new to the Multi Level Marketing business I am focussed on becoming a Professional Multi Level Marketer and what better way to achieve this than to learn from those who are mega successful in the business, and have been for years!

Before getting involved with Multi-Level Marketing read as much as you can from those who have been in this business for many years and more importantly are successful in this business and really listen to what they are teaching you.

Richard Bliss Brooke has a great book out called The Four Year Career which compares the world now to how it used to be and why multi-level marketing is the way forward.

Eric Worre writes another fantastic  book called Go Pro.  This is a brilliant guide to how to be a Multi-Level Marketing Professional.  Both books are well worth investing your time in.

Multi-level marketing is not a way to get rich quick!  Sorry if that disappoints some of you but that’s a fact.  Yes it has happened to a very small number of people but not many.

To be successful you do need to work hard BUT you can work hard and enjoy what you are doing.  You can socialise whilst you do it which can be great fun.  The difference is you can end up after 4 – 7 years with a six figure income and a great pension. For most of us – how many jobs are there that can give you kind of future in this current climate?

And the beauty is you can start this business part-time to fit around your current commitments of work, family, etc., then build it up until you can afford to really fire it up and go full time.

Richard Bandler (Neuro Linguistic Programming Guru) teaches us that we can learn to do anything by duplicating that which others do brilliantly so I am passing on the little pearls of wisdom I have learned from the masters this week.

1.  Finding the right product is essential. You need to use the products yourself and more importantly believe in the products and have 100% confidence that the products deliver the benefits that they say they will deliver.  If you really love the products your enthusiasm will shine through when you talk to others about them.

2. Once you’ve found the products check out the company

How long have they been in business?

What are their profits and have their profits been showing a steady growth year on year over say the past 10 years?

How much do you have to pay to join the company?

Where are their distribution centers ?

How long does it take for delivery of orders?

What is the returns policy (and what percentage of their sales is returns)?

What support do they offer you and what training is available?

How ethical is the company (if this is important to you)?

3. Look for the right sponsor.  There are lots of sponsors out there.  Some great sponsors who offer tons of support and encouragement and some who are not so great.  You need to feel comfortable with your sponsor and know they will be there to prop you up at times if you need some support.  Get to know your sponsor before signing up with them.

4.  Understand that when you go into this business it is YOUR business.  You run it how you like and you earn as much or as little as you want/need to, depending on the effort you wish to put in.  Although the company will offer you all the support (if you are lucky enough to find the right company) it is up to you and you alone how you run your company.  Starting a new business by yourself can be very daunting, but if you choose the right company you will never be on your own.

5. Understand the company’s compensation plan.

How much commission will you earn?

When and how is it paid?

Are there other bonuses, if so at what stage do they kick in?

How do you build your business?  Building a business takes hard work and effort – I repeat – this is not a get rich quick business – it takes time to build it!

6. Where does the company hold it’s Business Presentation evenings.  This is where you might want to take your new distributors when they sign up with you so make sure it is at a convenient distance to where you live – you really don’t want to be driving 100’s of miles to get there each time you want to take someone and it could put new distributors off if they think it is too far for them to be travelling.

So that’s all the things I have learned, some of which I hadn’t really been aware of / thought of before I joined the company I am with – fortunately I struck lucky!  But don’t leave it up to luck – you might not be a fortunate as I was.

I hope this helps you to find the right company with the right products, the right sponsor and a truly fabulous lifestyle.

Giving up my day job!

Having been a complementary therapist for the past 8 years (on a very part time basis and whilst still holding down a day job) I have finally taken a leap of faith and made the decision to give up a very stressful position (I left my job last week 🙂 ) and take a huge step forward forward to a position of being able to help and heal AND work in a wonderfully stress-free environment. In other words my perfect “job”.
Confucius quotes “Chose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life”.  I hope never to work another day in my life!!
However although I do realise there are massive benefits in doing this, it is very scary.  As you probably already know:
1). It takes time to build a full time practice and not many clients stay with us indefinitely.
2). There are only so many days in the week and hours in the day I can work
3). There is only so much strain my hands/back and brain can take – as we all know our work can be physically and emotionally draining sometimes
4).  I have given up a full time with an exceptionally good salary and although money is not the driving force behind us complementary therapists, in realistic terms we all need to eat and pay our bills.
So before taking the leap I did a lot of thinking around how I could make a residual income which took the pressure off me and meant I didn’t have to raise my charges to my clients.  I have always wanted my therapies to be beneficial to as many people as possible and still do. Raising my charges may make the cost of a therapy too expensive for some.
I wasn’t looking for something that would mean having to put in more hours and I certainly wasn’t looking for something that was going to cost me a lot of money to do. Time and money were not in abundance and I couldn’t afford to waste either.
BUT I was looking for something that would be congruent with my therapy practice. It had to be something that enabled me to offer more benefits to my clients and something I truly believed in, something that feedback would tell me was as good as I believed it was.  And I found it!
My new job ad:
The job is with a Company larger than Gucci, and promises a secure position even in these troubled financial times. You can pick your own hours and pay rises and promotions are positively encouraged! This job allows you to meet people, and help others. You will be provided with a secure pension in which you invest time rather than money. And to say thank you for your hard work, the Company will give you a new car and free holidays around the world!
You see the job, but would you apply? Would you decide it was too good to be true or would you seek more information? Well that advert is here and now, and the opportunity for more information is here for the taking. I know it because this is exactly what its doing for me! There are more vacancies – tell me, what have you got to lose?

New to Multi Level Marketing

So you’re thinking of joining a multi-level marketing company?  You’re not on your own – currently with the unemployment situation and the lack of security in “normal” jobs lots of people are looking for something that will give them control over their future.

There are many reasons people are deciding to go down this route. It may be because you’ve just been made redundant for the umpteenth time and have decided to take your future into your own hands or that the entrepreneur inside you is bursting to get out.  For whatever reason you have,  are you totally prepared for the journey?

The first thing is to find a company that you feel totally in tune with that has great products you are really interested in – your enthusiasm for the products is key.

The second thing I believe is to have products that are consumable.  You want customers to use up what they buy and then come back for more.  A lot of business (think I read somewhere recently that about 80%) is done by repeat sales – so look after your customers!

The best advice I got when I joined Forever Living was to use the products.  This really wasn’t difficult as they stretch across a wide range of health and skincare goodies and I already had tried their deodorant and their shampoo and thought they were fabulous.

So I cleared out all the cleansers, moisturisers, shampoos and soaps etc. I had bought in the supermarket and replaced as many as I could with my new Aloe Vera products and set to using them.  It wasn’t long before my husband’s curiosity got the better of him and he wanted to try them too.  And it wasn’t too long before people started to comment on how great my skin and hair were!

I loved the products so much I started to tell people about my experiences with them and before I knew it I had quite a few customers!

SO LOVE YOUR PRODUCTS AND TELL EVERYONE HOW MUCH YOU LOVE THEM AND WHY!!  TELL THEM ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF USING THEM

Once I had told everyone  I knew about my products and my wonderful new business – I wasn’t too sure what to do next.  You can’t keep ramming it down people’s throats otherwise you start to lose friends and family dread you coming over!  You might be completely blown away with your new business but others don’t really want to hear about it every time they see you. I am sure we have all met (or tried to avoid) people like that!

Although my products are consumable, one of their best selling points is that you don’t need to use a large amount of them to get great benefits.  Unfortunately that means that your customers don’t need to re-order too often.  Great for your customers but not great for your sales figures!!

So I guess I needed more customers.

But if I got lots of new customers – how would  look after them so they got the personal service I wanted to give them.  I joined this business to have more time to myself not less.  I wanted to work part-time.  I already had a job that was full-time and really didn’t want to have another one.

Well next thing to do is to find others who could do what I was doing.  Use the products and recommend them to friends and family – sounds easy enough doesn’t it?

……..to be continued

IBS – are you a sufferer?

What is IBS??

Irritable Bowel Syndrome(or IBS as it is more commonly known) is a symptom-based diagnosis characterized by chronic abdominal pain, discomfort, bloating, and alteration of bowel habits.  There is no known cause and “currently” there is no known cure.  I say “currently” as you never know what will be discovered today or tomorrow and I dislike intensely the words “there is no cure”.  I believe these are some of the most cruel words that can be said to someone with a chronic illness – it can take away any thoughts of  hope that one day there might be a cure and often the sufferer  just gives up trying to find a way to get better.

It is thought that 1 in 10 people suffer from IBS at some stage in their lives.

Although the symptoms of IBS can be troublesome, the condition does not pose a serious threat to your health. It can be painful and debilitating, and can have a negative impact on your quality of life. However, with appropriate treatment you should be able to live a normal, full and active life.

So what are the symptoms and how do you help ease them?

The symptoms of IBS are usually worse after eating and tend to come and go in bouts.

Most people have a flare-up of symptoms that lasts two to four days. After this time, the symptoms usually improve but do not disappear completely.

The most common symptoms of IBS are:

  • abdominal pain and cramping – often relieved by emptying your bowels
  • a change in your bowel habits – such as diarrhoea or constipation or sometimes both
  • bloating and swelling of your abdomen
  • excessive wind  (flatulence)
  • an urgent need to go to the toilet
  • a feeling that you need to open your bowels even if you have just been to the toilet
  • a feeling you have not fully emptied your bowels
  • passing mucus from your bottom

Due to the embarrassment, pain and discomfort of IBS, many people with the condition also have feelings of depression and anxiety

Is there something that I can do longer term to help myself?

First and foremost get advice from your GP if you think you may have IBS – it is important to have this diagnosed properly.

There are some things you can do for yourself straight away…..

  • eat regular meals – little and often
  • don’t skip meals or eat late at night
  • don’t eat too quickly – take your time
  • sit down to eat and chew your food well
  • take regular exercise
  • make time to relax and relieve stress

There are other tips for ways to help ease the symptoms of IBS – you will find these on the NHS site http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Irritable-bowel-syndrome/Pages/Treatment.aspx  It is certainly worth a read.

Treating IBS the Natural Way

Dealing with Stress:

If you are particularly stressed or have stressful situations in your life you may wish to try some form of  excercise like tai-chi or  yoga, or perhaps meditation to help you de-stress. You can easily download some really good meditation tracks from itunes.

I can recommend listening to Tim Row’s Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) which can be found at http://archive.org/details/YogaNidra/:80/a

I found it to be one of the most relaxing meditations I have ever listened to – but please if you are going to try this, use headphones and make sure you won’t be interrupted for the duration of the meditation.

Digestion of Food:

Try this “Mindfulness” way of eating your next meal.  It isn’t easy and doesn’t feel natural at first but it will really help your digestive system.  By chewing your food properly and eating more slowly your digestive system doesn’t have to work so hard!

Place a forkful of food in your mouth. It doesn’t matter what the food is, but make it something you love to eat  – if it’s a hot meal make sure it is nice and hot and served on a pre-heated plate  (you’ll know why when you try this!!)

Now comes the hard part. Once you have taken the first mouthful put the fork down. This could be a lot more challenging than you imagine, because that first bite was very good and another immediately beckons. You’re hungry.

This experiment in eating, however, involves becoming aware of that reflexive urge to plow through your meal like you are staving to death. Resist it. Leave the fork on the table. Chew slowly. Stop talking. Really tune in to the texture of the food, the flavour of the food, the colour and  the aroma of the rising steam.

Chew until you can chew no more and make sure you have swallowed it (and allowed the food to go right down to the stomach) before you take another fork full.

Continue this way throughout the course of a meal

This way of eating has two major benefits – 1) it will really aid the digestion of your food and 2) an added bonus of helping you to lose weight – when you eat your food this way it gives your stomach time to signal the brain to tell it when the stomach is full and so you don’t want to eat so much.  When you eat your food quickly, you are able to eat more because you aren’t giving your stomach the time to signal to the brain before you have over-eaten.

Forever Living Products Aloe Vera Drinking Gel  may also help you.  This gel is as close to the fresh gel that is harvested from the leaf as it can possibly be with approximately 99% aloe gel.  For Aloe Vera products to be effective they need to have a high concentration of Aloe Vera Gel (aloe barbadensis).  The remaining 1 percent of components pack a powerful portion of vitamins, minerals, plant sterols, salcylic acid, amino acids, enzymes, sugar, lignins and more. The polysaccaraide part of the leaf has antibacterial and antiviral properties. The vitamins in aloe consist of antioxidants A, C and E, as well as thiamine, riboflavin and B12, choline and folic acid. Aloe consists a variety of minerals as well including iron, chromium, zinc, copper, manganese, magnesium, sodium, potassium and calcium. With such an expansive list of good ingredients it is easy to see how there could be many benefits to using aloe vera.  Taken from:  http://www.livestrong.com/article/255743-what-is-an-aloe-barbadensis-leaf/#ixzz2QTF4152A

We have had great feedback from clients who believe the gel is easing their IBS symptoms.  If you would like more information please get in contact with me on 07973 422632 or have a look at my website http://www.geraldinelay.myforever.com   The drinking gel I refer to is the one in the yellow bottle.

There really is no need to put up with the symptoms you are suffering – there are so many ways out there to help and I hope this encourages you to find the way that works for you.

Disclaimer:  I am not a doctor, nor am I medically trained and am not offering any medical advice.  If you are suffering from IBS I do recommend you see your own GP

Multi-level Marketing – Is it for you?

Multi-level marketing is set to become one of the more popular ways to earn a living in the future.  People’s jobs are becoming less secure and more people want to take control of their future instead of leaving it in the hands of someone else.

So what are the benefits of multi-level marketing?

Well for me some of the benefits were:

  • I wanted to be able to work from home
  • I wanted to be able to work the hours I choose
  • I wanted to be able to start part-time (to fit in with my current job and my family) and build a full time income
  • I wanted to be able to earn an uncapped and willable income stream
  • I wanted to build a secure pension
  • I wanted to build my business without massive overheads or worrying about employing people
  • I wanted to be able to work outside in the sunshine on those odd days that we got any!!
  • And I wanted to meet more people and have fun doing something I really enjoyed!!

But there are so many companies out there offering an opportunity.

So how do you even begin to choose which company to work with?

Well, I wanted to work with:

  • An ethical company. This was very important to me.
  • A company that produced top quality products that were consumable (giving me regular sales) and  products that did what they said they would do!  (Last thing I wanted to deal with was the aggravation of customer complaints.)
  • A company that paid me a good income
  • A company that offered lots of training on both their products and their business AND offered me support when I needed it
  • A company that recognised my efforts and rewarded me for them
  • A company that offered me a global business – and I mean GLOBAL
  • A company that supplied my products within a couple of days so I didn’t have to hold stock or keep my customers waiting a week to get their order
  • A company that wasn’t asking me for £1000’s to join them!
  • A company that offered me the opportunity to travel and have fun!

After looking at a number of companies I found the one I had been looking for!

If you are feeling that your entrepreneurial skills could be put to better use Forever Living offers all of the above and more.
